I have had the opportunity to go to two McMenamin's now, and I like them very much. Basically, think beer garden in a shady setting on an old refurbished property. My kind of scene. They have locations all over the Portland area, and each one is unique.
Both times I have gotten a ruby, one of their signature beers.
It's an ale with raspberries. I know, been there done that. But this is different. It's nice and malty, and not too sweet. It's refreshing and light with a raspberry flavor that doesn't hit you over the head. And it's a great color.
Come out and try it!
